Free accounting tips for charities

Local charities across Bristol are being invited to attend a free workshop to help them get to grips with accounting issues.

The workshop, which is being run by city centre based Barnes Hunter Chartered Accountants on 26th April, is ideal for managers and trustees looking to improve their accounting techniques.

Mark Hunter, specialist charities partner at Barnes Hunter, comments: "Working in a voluntary organisation can often result in little time or man power being available to take care of complex accounting issues as fundraising and providing a service are naturally the main areas of concerns. However this workshops aims to provide managers and trustees with practical tips on how to ensure there are accounts run effectively and efficiently.

"At this workshop, we will discuss the common accounting issues that affect charities, with a review of the new draft Charities Bill and its effect. Our aim is to provide delegates with an easy to understand presentation, accurate information and practical tips about accounting issues that directly affect them."

The workshop will cover topics, including:

  • Trustees’ responsibilities
  • Trustees’ report
  • Risk assessments
  • Fund accounting
  • Gifts in kind
  • Draft Charities Bill
  • Sorp 2005

To book a place or for more information please call Barnes Hunter on 0117 930 0061.
